What PRP Can Do for You

What PRP Can Do for You

As you get older, your body goes through a lot of changes, including changes to your skin. With every year, your skin becomes less firm, and you may notice things like wrinkles and fine lines, along with sagging in your face.

There are many options to help you rejuvenate your skin, including regenerative medicine treatments like PRP. This allows you to get younger, healthier-looking skin using cells from your own body.

At IVY Infusions, our team is dedicated to helping you look and feel your best through a variety of aesthetic treatments. Leading our team is our aesthetics expert, Sasha Beatty, MSN, FNP-C.

Ms. Beatty provides you with specialized care when you’re looking for a fresh new look to feel like your younger self.

What is PRP?

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a type of regenerative medicine treatment that uses the platelets from your blood to heal your tissues. It’s a state-of-the art therapy that has many uses throughout your body.

Your blood is made of many different components, including whole blood cells and liquid, which is known as plasma. Platelets are the component of your blood that come to the rescue when you cut or hurt yourself.

A key component of your body’s clotting cascade, your platelets head to the site of injury and clump together, causing a clot to form. This stops the bleeding at the side and allows a scab to form.

However, platelets also contain extremely powerful growth proteins. This allows the platelets to rebuild tissues around the area of an injury, or when injected into your skin. This benefit has been harnessed through PRP, allowing our team to multiply the platelets into an injection, which is then put into your skin to help regenerate new, healthier cells.

What’s PRP used for?

PRP is a treatment that is used in many different areas of your body. If you’re losing hair, it’s used to regenerate new hair cells. When you injure a joint, it’s injected to help repair the damage. After surgery, PRP is used to help your body heal more efficiently.

At our facility, Ms. Beatty uses PRP for aesthetic purposes. She uses it on different areas of your skin to improve a number of different issues, including:

Ms. Beatty assesses your skin to help determine which treatment is best for you. One of the great things about PRP is that it’s able to take care of several issues at once, instead of undergoing multiple different types of treatments.

The benefits of PRP treatments

When you’re looking to achieve a more youthful appearance, PRP is a great option, as it’s both safe and effective. Because PRP is derived from your own blood, you don’t have to worry about transmittable diseases from others.

PRP is also relatively painless, except for the blood draw and the injection. However, when you compare it to other types of aesthetic treatments, it comes in low on the pain scale.

There’s really no downtime associated with PRP treatments. After Ms. Beatty injects the PRP into your skin, you’re able to go about your day. You may have a few restrictions, but nothing major like some other types of treatment.

The results from PRP aren’t instantaneous; it may take several weeks to months to see a major difference in your skin. However, the changes are done at the cellular level, meaning there’s an actual change, instead of a temporary fix that only masks the problem.
