What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is an injection that has many purposes: It works by temporarily paralyzing your muscles. While this sounds unsafe and, frankly, useless, this muscle paralyzation has the ability to eliminate wrinkles and lines, giving life to your look after years of wrinkle-accelerating muscle habits.
The active ingredient in BOTOX, called botulinum toxin, is common in nature. When used correctly, by a trained professional, BOTOX is very safe and can be used for both aesthetic and medicinal purposes.
What can BOTOX do?
BOTOX has a wide variety of uses. If you feel like your face could use a touch up of elasticity or roundness, BOTOX can help you achieve the younger look that you want. BOTOX’s long list of aesthetic targets includes:
- Frown lines
- Forehead furrows
- Lazy eyes
- Other wrinkles and lines
Each of these features is caused by years of repeated muscle use. BOTOX paralyzes these muscles, smoothing the age-related lines and wrinkles in your face to make you look younger.*
What can I expect during my appointment?
Knowing what to expect before your BOTOX appointment can help calm your nerves and allow you to be more comfortable during your injection and confident in your decision. At the appointment, Sasha at IVY Infusions may offer you a topical anesthetic to alleviate pain or discomfort from the injections. The procedure lasts roughly 15 minutes with little to no recovery time afterwards.
The results may be seen anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks after treatment. For optimal results, Sasha recommends a single session every 3-4 months.
Are there side effects?
After a BOTOX session, you may experience a few side effects, but they usually go away within a week. Normal side effects from BOTOX include:
- Mild pain
- Crooked smile
- Drooping eyelids
- Eye dryness or tears
If you notice more serious symptoms, like muscle weakness or trouble breathing, you need to contact Sasha as soon as possible. If you have concerns about the risks that come with BOTOX injections, she can further inform you of your chances of having a reaction.
If you’re interested in finding out more about why everyone is raving about BOTOX, call or schedule an appointment at IVY Infusions to find out if the treatment is for you.
The results may be seen anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks after treatment. For optimal results, Sasha recommends a single session every 3-4 months, with a follow up 2 weeks after for any possible touch ups.
*Individual results may vary. Other neuromuscular toxins maybe used such as Xeomin or Dysport.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are aesthetic injectables that can improve facial contouring. They offer temporary volume enhancement, helping restore facial fullness and enhance your features.
Many people choose minimally invasive dermal fillers because they want to achieve noticeable improvements without the risks of plastic surgery.
Dermal fillers are some of the most popular advanced medical aesthetic treatments on the market.
What areas of the face can dermal fillers improve?
There are many different types of dermal fillers, each of which is formulated to deliver specific results. In general, thicker formulations are used in larger areas, such as the cheeks and mid-face. Thinner formulations are better suited for tiny lines around the eyes and lips.
Some of the areas where dermal fillers can create beautiful results include:
- Crow’s feet
- Beneath the eyes
- Vertical lip lines
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
There are even options to enhance lip fullness or plump the backs of your hands.
What is a liquid facelift?
The term “liquid facelift” is used to describe a combination of BotoxⓇ, DysportⓇ, Xeomin and dermal fillers. In the hands of an experienced practitioner like Sasha, these injectables can be used to make the most of your natural contouring and enhance volume.
Dermal fillers and other injectables are powerful tools, and it’s important to only receive treatment from skilled professionals like Sasha. Beware of discount sales pitches and offers that sound too good to be true. Top-quality dermal fillers are an investment in your self-confidence and should only be performed by a pro.
How long do dermal fillers last?
IVY Infusions uses the best dermal filler brands on the market, including RestylaneⓇ and the JuvédermⓇ family of products. Your treatments can last from several months to a year or more, depending on the formulation.
While some of the plumping effects from dermal fillers will fade over time, fillers prompt your body to create new collagen. This means you can enjoy lasting fullness in the treatment area, even once all of the filler material is naturally absorbed by your body.
To learn more about the role dermal fillers might play in your aesthetic treatment plan, schedule a consultation at IVY Infusions by phone or online today.

What is a PDO thread lift?
As the years pass, your skin loses much of the elasticity and fullness present during your youth. Collagen cells deplete and don’t naturally regenerate, which allows your skin to sag and pool into lines, wrinkles, and folds.
A facelift can restore facial contouring, but comes with a long list of potential complications. For those who want a more youthful, well-rested appearance, a thread lift offers a great solution without the risks inherent in a facelift.
A thread lift is an advanced medical aesthetics procedure that uses a series of temporary sutures to lift and tighten your skin. Some of these threads are made of polydioxanone (PDO), a safe material that your body eventually absorbs and processes.
What are the effects of a PDO thread lift?
The threads create an immediate, subtle lifting effect. Even better, your body responds to the threads by creating new collagen, which provides an ongoing plumping effect. This can extend your results by years, making PDO thread lifts an outstanding value.
PDO thread lifts are well-tolerated and carry little risk of side effects like bruising, bleeding, or infection. While the effects cannot rival a full facelift, PDO thread lifts also carry none of the risk of serious side effects that come with surgical procedures.
What areas can a PDO thread lift improve?
The threads used in a PDO thread lift are very versatile and can be used to lift and tighten skin in many areas of your face. Some of the most popular areas of focus with a PDO thread lift include:
- Crow’s feet
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Beneath the eyes
During your consultation at IVY Infusions, Sasha will discuss how a thread lift can improve your facial contouring or if other treatments might be a better fit for your aesthetic goals.
What happens during a PDO thread lift?
A topical numbing cream reduces sensation in the treatment area. This allows Sasha to painlessly insert the threads using a thin needle. She trims away any excess thread material.
The entire process takes just moments. There’s no significant discomfort and you can resume normal activities immediately after your thread lift. Just take care to sleep on your back for a few days to avoid placing undue strain on your face.
The best way to learn more about PDO thread lifts is to come in for a face-to-face consultation at IVY Infusions. Book your consultation by phone or online today.

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelets are a component of blood that naturally stimulates growth and tissue regeneration. PRP is derived from the plasma in your blood to promote tissue growth and elasticity. It is more effective than synthetic growth factors in rejuvenating our skin and hair follicles. PRP not only acts as a filler but helps aging skin repair itself from within. The ultimate all-natural alternative to synthetic fillers to volumize, tighten, and lift the skin. PRP is particularly good for younger patients who want to get a head start on rejuvenating their skin with a solution that will look natural and youthful.
PRP for Hair Loss
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, is an innovative technique that is already being used for non-surgical facial rejuvenation, is now also available for the treatment of certain types of hair loss. PRP therapy channels the power of your body’s own natural growth factors to reactivate inactive hair follicles and trigger new hair growth.
The process of PRP therapy begins by drawing one small tube of your blood, just like in a routine blood test. It is spun and the PRP is separated and prepared for use. The highly-concentrated PRP is then injected into the scalp. PRP scalp treatments are done is a series of 6 at a rate of once per month.
Progress is 5 weeks after his first session.
WHO CAN GET PRP?
Almost anyone who wants a natural and non-invasive solution for aging skin are candidates for PRP. Since the platelets are derived from your own blood, there is very little risk of reaction, and the actual process of injecting the Platelet-Rich Plasma is even less invasive than Botox. PRP is particularly good for younger patients who want to get a head start on rejuvenating their skin with a solution that will look natural and youthful – in fact, Kim Kardashian went viral with her Instagram posts on her own Vampire Facial.
PRP also isn’t just for facial treatments: men or women who are experiencing hair loss can get PRP therapy in the scalp to stimulate follicles and promote hair regrowth. It is recommended to have three treatments spaced one to two months apart to get the most out of your PRP Therapy. After this, the positive benefits of PRP therapy can last for a year or more.
*Individual results may vary. Any specific claims or permanent length of results vary for each patient and are not guaranteed. Each treatment plan is designed individually, so depending on the area being treated and the condition of the skin being treated, each patient will experience different results.
A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area. The patient’s blood is drawn, spun and the PRP is separated and prepared for use. The numbing cream is removed. The area is then treated with PRP with or without use of a micro-needle.
The procedure takes about 30 minutes. The patient will experience redness, possibly pinpoint bleeding, which is easily removed after the treatment. Redness subsides in 3 to 5 days. Treatments are performed 3-4 weeks apart with 3 to 6 treatments required, depending upon what is being treated. Visible changes will develop over the course of several weeks.
Ideal candidates for PRP Treatments:
• Fine lines or moderate wrinkles
• Moderate skin laxity
• Diminished texture, tone, color
• Acne Scars
• Large Pores
• Stretch marks
• Hair regrowth in age-related balding or other forms of hair loss
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are dermal fillers used for?
Dermal fillers work well in softening wrinkles, smile lines, the nasolabial folds, and filling in lip lines. Fillers may also be used to help restore volume in the jaw line and to help improve sunken cheeks. Some patients with complaints about their nasal appearance may also benefit from injectable fillers.
How long does the treatment last?
For injectable fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, a single session spaced 6 months to 1 year apart, depending on the area injected and particular filler injected, will produce excellent results. However, the effects of injectable fillers are seen immediately, so the process can be stopped when you are happy with the result.
What areas are treated with Botox® and Dysport®?
We use Botox® and Dysport® to treat the forehead, the area between the eyebrows, the lateral eyes (“crow’s feet”), the upper lip and the top of the nose (“bunny lines”). Botox® and Dysport® can also be used to slightly raise the eyebrows and the corners of the mouth.
How long does the treatment last?
For Botox® and Dysport® the results may be seen anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks after treatment. The effects of Botox®, Dysport® and injectable fillers are temporary, and the duration of each treatment varies from patient to patient. For Botox® and Dysport® a single session every 3 to 4 months will accomplish optimal results.
How do I know which one is right for me?
Wrinkles that are created by muscle movement are improved with Botox® and Dysport®. These wrinkles are referred to as “dynamic” and are usually not prominent when the muscles are relaxed. In contrast, a “static” wrinkle is present even when the face is completely relaxed. This type of wrinkle is usually not improved with Botox® and Dysport®, and will likely respond to an injectable filler.
Are the treatments painful?
A procedure involving Botox®, Dysport® and injectable fillers involves very little pain with the proper technique. A customized anesthetic is used, allowing minimal discomfort.
Sasha Beatty, MSN, FNP-BC, will consult with you to find the dermal filler and injectables treatment that is right for you.
